Dr. R Vasanthagopal is presently serving as Senior Professor at the Institute of Management in Kerala (IMK) and Director, School of Business Management and Legal Studies, University of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram, India. He has previously held key academic leadership positions, including Director, School of Distance Education, Senior Professor and Head, IMK, and Dean, Faculty of Management Studies of the University. He is currently officiating as Dean, Faculty of Commerce, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, and is also a Member of the Syndicate of Mahatma Gandhi University, contributing actively to university governance and policy formulation.
He holds a Master’s degree in Finance, M.Phil., and Ph.D. from the University of Kerala, and was awarded the prestigious Doctor of Letters (D.Litt.) degree by Madurai Kamaraj University, Tamil Nadu, in recognition of his outstanding scholarly contributions in the areas of financial inclusion and financial literacy.
With over 29 years of experience in teaching, research, and academic administration, he is a passionate educator and academic leader committed to institutional development, academic excellence, and research-driven learning, in alignment with NEP 2020, accreditation frameworks, and global best practices.
He has published 12 books in the fields of Commerce and Management and has authored over 75 research papers in reputed national and international peer-reviewed journals. As an academic speaker and resource person, he has delivered more than 100 invited lectures and has presented research papers at over 50 national and international conferences.
As a recognized research supervisor, 29 scholars have been awarded Ph.D. degrees under his guidance. He also serves as a NAAC assessor, expert member, editor, and reviewer for several academic institutions, universities, journals, and professional bodies of national and international repute, contributing significantly to policy formulation, curriculum development, academic audits, and quality assurance in higher education.
