Prof. R. Vasanthagopal is presently serving as Senior Professor at the Institute of Management in Kerala (IMK) and Director, School of Business Management and Legal Studies, University of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram, India. He has previously held key academic leadership positions, including Director, School of Distance Education, Senior Professor and Head, IMK, and Dean, Faculty of Management Studies of the University. He is currently officiating as Dean, Faculty of Commerce, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, and is also a Member of the Syndicate of Mahatma Gandhi University, contributing actively to university governance and policy formulation.

He holds a Master of Commerce (M.Com) in Finance, M.Phil., and Ph.D. from the University of Kerala, and an MBA from Kurukshetra University, Haryanan. He was awarded the prestigious Doctor of Letters (D.Litt.) degree by Madurai Kamaraj University, Tamil Nadu, in recognition of his outstanding scholarly contributions in the areas of financial inclusion and financial literacy.
With over 29 years of experience in teaching, research, and academic administration, Prof. Vasanthagopal is a passionate educator and academic leader committed to institutional development, academic excellence, and research-driven learning, in alignment with NEP 2020, accreditation frameworks, and global best practices.
He has published 12 books in the fields of Commerce and Management and has authored over 80 research papers in reputed national and international peer-reviewed journals. As an accomplished academic speaker and resource person, he has delivered more than 100 invited lectures and has presented research papers at more than 50 national and international conferences.
As a recognized research supervisor, 32 scholars have been awarded Ph.D. degrees under his guidance. He also serves as a NAAC assessor, expert member, editor, and reviewer for several academic institutions, universities, scholarly journals, and professional bodies of national and international repute. Through these roles, he has made significant contributions to policy formulation, curriculum development, academic audits, quality assurance, and institutional accreditation in higher education.
